How to Progress in your Jiu-Jitsu training

Updated: May 18

Our goal at Hybrid Academy is to help you progress at Jiu-Jitsu as efficient as possible. A good approach to your training is looking at Jiu-Jitsu as a marathon, not a sprint. Jiu-Jitsu is personal journey and practitioners can train all the way into their 60s & 70s.

Therefore, when it comes to your training. Slow is fast and time on the mat equals progression. Let consistency be your compass. Be as consistent as you can when it comes to your training. Mat time is very important. The more time you spend on the mat, the more you'll progress in your training. Progress takes time so trust the process and remain consistent.

Develop a love for drilling technique. The best way to do so is to take advantage of our 5:00pm drill classes and open mat times (Friday & Saturday). Use those time slots to drill technique in repetitions. Drill the fundamental techniques our instructors taught you from the week you attended. This will help you retain the information (technique) and help you apply later when introduced to sparring.
